   The Museum of History in Asenovgrad was settled in 1971 in the purposely adapted building, built in 1895 as the House of the Army officer. The Exposition of 1,000 museum units is displayed on an area of 200 sq m in three halls and three Departments in the Museum.
   Department of Archeology gives information about human life in our region by 7000 BC. The stone and bone implements, religious and household items are shown here. The Museum's ceramics from the Neolithic period astound with a beauty and bold creative solutions. The exposed works of prehistoric cult plastic and zoomorphic vessels are very characteristic. The find at the village of Muldava - a ceramic vessel in the shape of a deer - is really exclusive.
   Stone axes with holes, bone flat idols, ceramics and more show the human development during the Chalcolithic. The clay female Idol, a symbol of fertility, with the artistic natural deformation of the body attracts our particular interest as an object of a cult.

   The Paleontological Museum "Dimitar Kovachev" created on the initiative of the NPM BAS/the National Paleontological Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences/ is based on a paleontological collection, which was developed over decades by a longtime teacher of Biology in a high school of Asenovgrad - Dimitar Kovachev. The impressive collection of the Paleontological Museum, which represents an extremely scientific and cultural heritage of its kind, is constantly growing up. In addition to numerous corals, ammonites and other fossil invertebrates, the collection boasts above all the fossil mammals. In its volume this is the largest collection in Bulgaria of Neogene vertebrates. Over 30,000 specimens are included in the scientific collection of the Late Miocene mammals. New fossils are permanently added, extracted from tones fossil sediments, stored in stocks of the Museum. Numerous remains of fossil horses (hiparioni), antelopes, predators, proboscideans (mastodons and dinotheria), monkeys and more are included in the rich collection.

   The Old school "St. George"

   The exposition of the History Museum in Asrnovgrsd is also dedicated to education and culture in our town at the end of the 19th to beginning of the 20th century.
   In one of the halls on the second floor you can see a reconstruction of a school room of that period. The atmosphere of a bookstore "Gandi" is replicated in another hall.

   The Ethnographic house

    Male and female costumes by the end of the 19th century are displayed here. You can focus your attention on the street organ, made by a local craftsman. The customs "Kalinitsa" and the Town Carnival of Shrovetide are presented by the paintings of the local artist Costa Forev.
   In the cellar there is an exposition of the local viticulture and wine-producing from the Antiquity until the middle of the 20th century.

   The Asen's fortress

    The medieval Asen's fortress is situated 3 km away, in the south of Asenovgrad town on a rocky peak over the left bank of the Asenitsa river. The earliest archaeological findings date back to the V-IV century BC, when Thracians appreciated the inaccessibility of the terrain and built a fortification on it. The area of the fortress was inhabited as well as in the Roman and the Early Byzantine era.
